Support: Visa, Travel and Orientation
Living and working somewhere new is a big step. You will be given help and support for everything from getting a visa to arriving in the UK and finding somewhere to live.
Visas
To come to the UK on the UK India Graduate Work Experience Programme, you will need to apply for a visa. The visa issued for the programme is a Tier 5 government work exchange programme visa and is restricted to the employer and the length of the internship offered. Information about visas for the UK, details of how to apply and a copy of the application form are available here.
All selected candidates will be secured a visa, providing all the necessary documentation is given in time. GTI Recruiting Solutions will the sponsor for the visa however candidates are responsible for their own application and the costs of their visa.
If you have any questions about your visa application, please contact us at ukindiagrad@gtisolutions.co.uk
Travel
All costs for travel to and from the UK are the responsibility of the intern and we suggest if you are successfully offered a placement on the programme, you book these as soon as you have received your visa. The team would be happy to help you with making arrangements for your flight to the UK however we understand you may wish to do this yourself. The costs of your flight are not covered by the programme.
Arriving in the UK
When you arrive in the UK, you will spend your first week attending an orientation programme based at a UK university. This programme will give you an introduction to UK culture and the business environment you will be working in.
During this time, you will be introduced to your employer, and will also meet the other graduates taking part in the programme, as well as having the opportunity to meet British students. The Programme is responsible for your accommodation and training costs during this one week period.
Accommodation
The Programme will help you find suitable and safe accommodation in your budget within a commutable distance of your workplace. You will need to budget to pay a deposit and your first month rent in advance before your first pay cheque, if you have any requests or special requirements the programme will do its best to accommodate them.
