FAQs
Below is a selection of frequently asked questions. If you can't find the answer to your questions, please get in touch.
What costs are involved in employing a graduate?
Employers are expected to pay the Indian graduates as they would pay a UK graduate intern; a suitable living wage, commensurate with the responsibilities of the job. There is no fee to join the Programme.
Can we hire graduates post UK-placement?
This is dependent entirely on the business and the individual to make the decision to offer opportunities in their UK or India operations.
Which universities will be involved?
So far, the following universities have been involved in the Graduate Work Experience Programme: London School of Economics, Brunel University, Coventry University, Middlesex University and Regent's College.
What will graduates' levels of previous experience be?
Candidates will most likely have just completed their degrees or masters programmes. It is expected that their levels of previous work experience will vary from person to person, as with any group of graduates. Employers with specific requirements for work experience should specify this at the time of vacancy identification. Candidates will not have any study commitment while in the UK.
How can we find out more about immigration?
Employers will need to be aware of the immigration requirements when offering an intern a permanent position. The interns are required to return to India as a condition of their visa, and they must do so even if planning on returning to the UK. The UK government has recently introduced a points based immigration system. To find out more about the new requirements please review this document. The relevant pages are pages 19-28.
